HOW TO SURVIVE A DAY FULL OF MEETINGS IN SAN FRANCISCO
Whether you have a full day of meetings, working as a digital nomad, or visiting the city for one of the many conferences taking place. Here is a list of some of my go-to spots to catch up with colleagues, check-in with clients, entertain some business guests, or for us PR folks, meet that media.
7 AM – BREAKFAST
360 Jessie St.
Meeting downtown early in the AM? We’re gonna go British for breakfast, and suggest The Cavalier. The menu ranges from seasonal fruits to pancakes, as well as breakfast sandwiches (but I suggest the burger). It’s the perfect place to get the day started. As a side note: If you can persuade your guest to leave downtown, I highly suggest Tartine Manufactory, located in the Mission neighborhood. If you do, order the Porchetta sandwich…you’ll be happy you took the trek!
12 PM – LUNCH
230 California St.
I recently had a meeting here and was impressed by the service and the delicious food. Perbacco is an Italian word that expresses pleasure, surprise and good times, so it’s very fitting for this restaurant. With its sleek decor and modern exposed brick, it attracts a diverse group from business diners, families, to out-of-towners and friends gathering for a delicious Italian bite. It’s also not too loud to actually have a lunch meeting.
3 PM – COFFEE
720 Market St.
We’re blessed with a lot of great coffee in the Bay Area. Four Barrel, Ritual, Blue Bottle and Verve all come to mind. However, my favorite go-to spot is Mazarine. Named one of the best coffee shops in San Francisco by Conde Nast Traveler this year, there’s no wonder you may have to fight for a seat, but it’s worth it. From the pour-overs to the Nitro Brew, this European chic coffee bar will have you coming back every time. Situated right on Market Street, in the Financial District, it’s the perfect spot for the 3 PM meeting or coffee break. Go for the coffee but stay for the avocado toasts! TRUST ME – you’ll thank me later.
5 PM – HAPPY HOUR
653 Commercial St.
Sure, there’s Press Club, Leo’s Oyster Bar, and Local Edition, but the newest kid on the block is Hotel San Francisco, yes, it’s a bar, not a hotel. It’s an early happy hour (3 p.m. to 6 p.m.), so may I suggest an earlier meeting? With its playful decor, reminiscent of a throwback bar in Miami in the ‘80s, it has a great selection of cocktails and bites. It’s the perfect place to unwind, and entertain the fun clients that flew in from Louisville, or to impress those naysayers from Los Angeles. When I visited, I noticed no hoodies or yoga pants, so I recommend ditching those for a cute cocktail dress for the ladies and guys, ditch the branded tees and hoodies.
7 PM – DINNER
564 Fourth St.
Choosing a spot for dinner in San Francisco can be overwhelming. There are so many places that can be listed here, and since I can’t list them all here, I recommend following the Instagram page of Infatuation SF. Cockscomb, located in the SOMA neighborhood, will always be a no-brainer, go-to spot for me. Celebrity Chef Chris Cosentino, famous for winning Top Chef Masters, is known for celebrating the whole animal, and I dig it. At Cockscomb, you can order the whole oven-roasted pig’s head, the collar of a yellowfin tuna, and a bone steak that will make you forget your table manners. The rustic feel and open kitchen add a nice touch. It’s the perfect place to wind down the evening, and enjoy some of the great wine and whiskeys on their drink menu.
Why not? You deserve it, after the day you had!
