2019 New Year’s Resolutions From The MGP Team
January 11, 2019
“There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind” – C.S. Lewis
The New Year brings the opportunity, and a reason to set goals, take more care of ourselves and improve our mindset. As a team who are always striving to improve and be better, we have each set ourselves some New Year’s Resolutions:
Mindy M. Hull, CEO & founder
My 2019 new year’s resolutions are to:
- Maintain a healthier life-work balance. When I have time off from work – to really disconnect so I can fully recharge my batteries.
- I’m also working (like many people!) to lose weight and eat healthier – blocking out time in my day specifically for exercise.
- To be a more active listener – talk less and listen more.
Natalee Gibson, Managing Director
- I want to spend more time outside this year, taking deeper breaths and being more present in the moment. I want to rekindle my love of cycling and hiking which has taken a backseat to a very busy last few years.
- I want to make more time for dear friendships and the occasional lunch or meet up during a stressful week.
- I want to more readily express kindness and gratitude to those around me, practicing the old adage to leave people better than you found them.
- I want to make more time for things that strengthen me emotionally, physically and mentally.
Frances Lee, Chief of Staff
- Be present in the moment
- Getting back into a regular workout schedule and eating healthier
- Read more, catch up on all my books I have purchased on my Kindle
- Try to learn how to cook healthy meals
Antonio Hicks, Account Director
This year my resolutions fall under living a healthier lifestyle, starting with getting more sleep, and continuing to make clean choices in eating, and taking more responsibility with choosing sustainable foods. I also want to challenge myself physically with different types of exercises. A healthier me, physically and emotionally, will lead to a happier me in 2019.
Kayla Bortak, Senior Account Manager
This year my resolution is to walk my dog (Violet) more, preferably every day. A quick 15 minutes around the block gets me up and away from my computer screen. The sunlight burns my eyes when I first step out, but I’m sure the fresh air is good for me. I notice that Violet is happier and calmer with more walks and maybe I am too? Sometimes I even talk to my neighbors! In conclusion, if I walk my dog I will be a better person in 2019.
Carla Richardson, Senior Account Executive
My resolutions are often the same, this year with a few additions:
- Read more. Reading is such a great way to shut off and relax, and I thoroughly enjoy it once I get into a book! I just need to make a conscious effort to find the time, not always find something else I could be doing.
- Less phone time. No browsing in bed, be present in a room, don’t check every time something comes through.
- Worry less. I am a worrier, so I am always trying to make myself relax a bit more, and not get myself worked up about things that are out of my control.
- Learn something new. Go to a pottery class, do an online course in something that takes my fancy, do a beginner’s yoga course. I want to broaden my knowledge and mind in 2019.
Tara Hill, Account Executive
This year I want to be kinder to myself. I often find myself carried away in hyper-critical thoughts about my work and performance. Of course, I will still be aware and open to needed improvement, but I want to be sure I celebrate wins and take time to feel proud of my work. I know this will help make 2019 a happy year.
Hannah Martin, Account Coordinator
My New Year’s resolutions are fairly simple. I want to be more grateful for the things I have. It’s very easy to get caught up in what you need or what in life. I have steps to follow so I can better realize all the wonderful things I already have. I also want to be more present with my friends and family. I want to be active in conversations and interactions instead of passively sitting on my phone or in the background. I hope with these goals I can find more peace and happiness in my life for 2019.
