#EachforEqual – What International Women’s Day Means To Us
#IWD2020
March 7, 2020
Forty-five years ago, March 8th was adopted by the United Nations as a day to celebrate women everywhere; their achievements, triumphs, milestones and more. The theme for International Women’s Day 2020 is #EachforEqual. An equal world is an enabled world.
Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day. We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements.
As a team of talented, passionate and driven individuals, who are mothers, sisters, daughters, and a father and husband, International Women’s Day holds a special day in our hearts here at MGP. Women worldwide have made incredible sacrifices and rewritten the course of history through their efforts in career, community, family, innovation and more. Today, we reflect on what International Women’s Day means to us:
Mindy M. Hull, CEO and founder:
This year’s theme for International Women’s Day – #EachforEqual – shines a light on the fact that all of us as human beings are equal and deserve to be treated as such. Fostering relationships with diverse groups of women and people from all types and varieties of backgrounds, in combination with treating everyone equally, will push us forward as a society. I’m grateful for the women throughout history who have had the courage to speak up and stand out to change the world – as well as the men who supported them and stood by their side. When we support women, we support mothers, daughters, sisters, friends and colleagues. We not only lift one of us — we lift all of us.
Justin Norton, Account Director:
International Women’s Day reminds me of growing up with my mother, a health care and nursing pioneer who was breaking boundaries and rewriting the rules even back in the 60s. The collective effort of women like my mother has opened up limitless possibilities for people like my daughter who are the beneficiaries of their vision.
Frances Lee, Director of Operations:
To me, International Women’s Day shows the impact of solidarity. Along with the recent #metoo movement, we can bring to surface the collective struggles we still face and how essential it is to work together to support each other and move forward.
Jenn Johnston, Senior Account Manager:
International Women’s Day always reminds me of the strong women in my life. I have been privileged to have supreme examples throughout my life from my sister, mom, and women friends on what it means to challenge the status quo with grace and style. I am also thankful to the women who support each other everyday to make the world a better, more equal place for future generations. Hopefully someday, there will be no more need to ‘break glass ceilings’, and, instead, we all only see stars.
Allie Gavan, Account Director:
As a mother, daughter, sister, friend and colleague, International Women’s Day is near to my heart. As we celebrate #girlpower, I am proud of and grateful for the strides the women (and men) who came before us made to give my generation and future generations countless more opportunities than they ever had.
Kayla Bortak, Senior Account Manager:
On this day I am reminded to think about how different my life would be without the efforts of the women before me. I wonder whether I would have been able to make a difference as they have or if I am missing the opportunity to do so now. On International Women’s Day, I look around me to see how I can impact the future for women to come.
Olivia Farber, Account Assistant:
Celebrating International Women’s Day means that we get to recognize the impressive work that all females do every day. It is also a day to reflect on how far we have come with achieving gender equality, while realizing we still have some ways to go.
Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender equal world. Let’s all be #EachforEqual!
