PR Partner Profile: Ballou PR – Paris, France
October 06, 2022
We periodically feature our global PR partners and journalists on the MGP blog to give readers insight into both industries. Today we’re happy to share a Q&A with Alexandre Denis, managing director of Ballou PR in Paris.
Please share a bit about what you do in your own words.
I am managing director of France at Ballou, a European communications agency that supports high-growth tech and innovative companies in France, UK/Irelandand the DACH region.
What’s your career history?
I’ve been working in PR and comms for over 10 years and joined Ballou six years ago as an account manager. I now head up Ballou France and I am based in our first office in Paris, with a team of 20 consultants who are passionate about communications and innovation. In France, we work with clients such as ServiceNow, Cornerstone OnDemand, Mozilla, Aiven, Monday.com, Owlet, Wasabi Technologies… and about 25 more!
What sectors do you specialize in, and what makes your firm special?
We support high-growth tech companies with their PR and communications (social media, SEO, public affairs, branding…), addressing B2C or B2B audiences or facing corporate communications challenges. Our clients range from food tech to GreenTech, fintech and cybersecurity companies
What is the most important factor in making a relationship with a client and PR firm work? What is the most important factor in building relationships with journalists in your market?
Transparency and trust are the most important factors in a client and agency relationship. We position ourselves as partners to our clients, and driving them to reach their business objectives is our goal. Still, for that to happen, we need our clients to be fully transparent in the information they share with us and to trust our experience and our counsel. Regarding journalists in France, sharing relevant information tailored to their expectations and respecting their time are key to building cooperation.
What is unique about PR in your market?
Working with journalists is different in every country. Journalists in France do not work the same way as in the UK or in Germany. For example, one never asks a French journalist [if they can] proofread an article before publication. This is a freedom of the press principle.
Can you share one of your best pitches and some of the coverage you secured?
We recently secured five interviews with tier-1 French media for our US client Wasabi Technologies through one single pitch positioning the company about data sovereignty.
Where is your company going next? What are your aspirations? Anything else you want to share?
Ballou PR has grown rapidly and we intend to maintain that rhythm and keep attracting and advising companies we are excited to work with.
